In this session, ETS’ Eddie Arteaga, Jenny Geiler, Travis Bondy, and John Clark will discuss how ETS is adapting its view of assessments from a static of students’ skills today to a dynamic measure of their potential skills tomorrow.

They’ll do so by discussing recent updates to TOEFL, an English exam that has served as a core part of the international admissions process since 1964, and Futurenav, which integrates career discovery, navigation and placement into one coherent journey – simplifying delivery for institutions while providing continuity for students.

The session will cover market research shaping the need for the evolution of both TOEFL and Futurenav, more details surrounding each tool, and highlight future efforts to continue to meet the needs of institutions and students alike.

Around a third of US students studying abroad choose the UK, but the system remains unfamiliar to many of the counsellors advising on it. This session from Study UK, covers what counsellors need in order to advise on UK study with confidence. It sets out how UK undergraduate and postgraduate degrees are structured, and what a three-year degree means for cost and for a student’s experience. It draws on Study UK’s US market research to look at which students the UK suits and how to frame that around fit and outcomes. The session also looks at key UCAS deadlines and how they sit against the US cycle. Counsellors will leave with details of the British Council’s free counsellor training and the scholarship routes open to their students, including GREAT Scholarships.

The session closes with a Q & A session with admissions colleagues from a panel of UK universities.
